Tuesday

Our little girl has increasingly became more sick....she has sores in her mouth, cries when she swallows, and her fever is increasing (this evening). She is becoming more aggressive with pulling on her neck, head, and ears. I told our guide we had to get her some help as she is not eating (at all) and am having trouble getting fluids down her (she took only 1 bottle yesterday). I spent a considerable amount of time last night praying that we can get her help. We have been advised by our agency and our guide to avoid the hospital (I am afraid she is going to get dehydrated and end up there for fluids). Our guide called around to find a more reputable doctor....interesting: he said he does not have the instruments to look in her ears and we needed to go to the hospital. I had prayed for wisdom in this situation last night: I asked our guide if there was anyway he would consider prescribing her something without seeing her...I am still thanking God for getting us through this obstacle...the doctor did! We now have medicine....I am praying it works and she begins to improve. Last night (and still today) I kept thanking our Lord for the healthcare we have back home.

She did have a brief moment of playing (Motrin on board):she enjoys her pretend phone, fish toy, and blocks. She was unsure of what to think of bubbles but did give us a smile.

We had to make a quick trip to Walmart with our guide this morning (bottled water as drinking tap water makes everyone sick). We have spent the rest of the day in our room trying to console Maeve when she will allow it....truthfully, she is mighty mad at me right now (I would be to in this situation).

Thank you all for your emails, texts, blog comments...it is encouraging knowing so many are praying for us!

  3. Oh Michelle, such a poor sweet baby. Hoping that the medicine was exactly what she needed. Could she have an allergy? I know you have lots of resources back home but if you need help researching anything I can try. There is probably even someone I could find leaving for China this week that could get meds in the US and meet up with you in Guangzhou. Just let me know. Despite her unhappiness at feeling so poorly, you guys are capturing some great pictures. The middle one today just cracked me up; looks like she is taking a very serious call :) Hugs to all of you!
