She is ours!

I am filled with gratitude and joy today. This morning Maeve officially became our daughter. What a gift we have been given...that our God would allow us to be the mom and dad to Maeve...that He chose us to parent this precious child of His. This adoption, like the first one, shows me God's grace and sovereignty in such a mighty way that it overwhelms me when I ponder and reflect on those truths.

Maeve was up in the night quite a bit..the poor baby is sick...physically and emotionally. We had the meeting for the paperwork at 9am. This seemed stressful to Maeve as their were lots of people, it was really loud in the building, and an orphanage staff member was really rough with Maeve (grabbing her leg for a footprint). After that, we went to a different building for paperwork to process her passport. We then had our guide help us pick up a pizza (which we ate for lunch and dinner). We have spent the rest of the day in our hotel. Maeve was not real happy except for about 45 minutes when she seemed to feel well enough to play (I think it is her ears and throat as she pulls on her neck and ears and cries when she swallows; she has hardly eaten today so we took her to the hotel "doctor"...quite interesting....used a stick and a flashlight to try to examine her???) .

On a side note: we have a great guide; she has worked for Holt assisting families as they adopt for the past 14 years.

The photos at the bottom are of the lobby and the breakfast at the hotel.

  1. Our entire family is overjoyed for this precious gift you have received. Oh Michelle, she is just beyond precious. And such a baby! Whoa girl, you get to go back to parenting a precious baby!! Maren and Mora are going to be the best helpers and I know the boys will be great help especially in the entertaining part. So sorry she is under the weather. Yep, pretty sure a flashlight isn't going to reflect her middle ear. There is a medical clinic in the Garden Hotel once you get to Guangzhou-tower opposite the hotel rooms. Steve had eye problems while there which is how we learned of it. You guys are doing a great job updating the blog. Go girls!! So glad Mora is liking the dumplings; mmmm. We stayed at the China Mariott in 2010 and within a short walk there was a GREAT dumpling place. Name??? Sorry. Hoping each day Maeve feels an increasing sense of peace. Love to you all!
